This policy is a draft awaiting legal review.
The sections marked [to confirm] need a decision from us before launch. Everything else describes what the platform does today.
Who we are
Startup Help Squad is a UK platform for founders, their advisers and their investors. The data controller is [to confirm: registered name and company number], and you can reach us about anything on this page at [to confirm: contact address].
What we store
Your name, email address and a secure hash of your password. The answers you gave when you signed up — your sector, your stage, the kind of investor or adviser you are. The companies you belong to and what you are allowed to do on each. Which browsers and devices you are signed in on, so you can see and end your own sessions. A record of the consequential things done on your companies, so there is an answer to who did what.
If you are a company officer, we hold your name and your Companies House officer number, taken from the public register.
What we never store
We never see or store card numbers — payments go directly to Stripe, and we keep only their reference. We do not store your password, only a hash of it. We do not ask for your date of birth. We hold no health, biometric or other special category data at all.
Who else sees it
Companies House, when you look up or link a company number. Stripe, when you pay. Google or LinkedIn, if you choose to sign in with them — and only to the extent of confirming who you are. Our hosting and database provider, who process it on our behalf and nothing more.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Support access
Nobody at Startup Help Squad can look at your account as you without asking you first. You see who is asking and why, you decide, the access lasts thirty minutes, and you can end it at any moment. It never includes your billing or your data room. Every request and every answer is recorded.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep you signed in and to remember preferences like dark mode. Those are necessary for the platform to work and we do not ask about them. Analytics cookies are off unless you accept them, and you can change your mind by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
What you can do
From your settings you can download everything we hold about you as a single file, and you can delete your account permanently. Deleting is immediate and we cannot undo it. If you own a company you will be asked to hand it over first, so it is not left without an owner.
Records of what you did remain in your companies’ audit history after you leave, because they are part of those companies’ records rather than yours. [to confirm: how long we keep the audit log]
You also have the right to have inaccurate data corrected, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. To exercise any of these, write to us at [to confirm: contact address].
Where it is kept
[to confirm: hosting location and any international transfers]
